GH’s Eden McCoy (Josslyn) and her dog, Poké
gH’s Eden McCoy and her parents have welcomed Poké into the family in a big way. Since they rescued the senior dog from the shelter OC Animal Care, they’ve fattened her up with table foods and let her get in on all the family fun — even “fur” the holidays. “She gets presents under the tree,” confirms Josslyn’s portrayer. “Last year, she got a Christmas sweater.
“We don’t actually do Christmas sweaters in my family, but I also got one from a friend last year,” she adds. “It’s pretty bad. It’s red and white, and it’s like Santa — it has his belt on it and things like that. I liked mine more than Poké liked hers. She wasn’t a big fan!”
Poké also isn’t a big fan of dog food — at least not that she knows of. “She just eats whatever we eat,” McCoy explains. “When I have a waffle for breakfast, she’ll have a waffle. We just make a plate for her. It’s so bad, I know!”
On her first holiday with her newfound family, however, Poké didn’t get to eat with the clan. “She ate our leftovers, because we always go out to dinner for Christmas,” McCoy explains. “I think the roast beef was her favorite. She loves meat!”
McCoy’s tiny best friend has turned out to be everything she ever wanted… well, sort of! “She really is my mom’s dog,” admits the teen, who wishes she was the one Poké slept with and followed around. In fact, the thing she most wants for Christmas this year is a rescue of her own! “I’d like one who likes me. Plus, Poké would have a friend, so I can leave
“I love when Poké lays next to me when she sleeps,” says McCoy, who’s angling to get to rescue another dog this Christmas. “I’ve been texting my mom pictures of dogs from school!”
them at home together.
“But that’s definitely not happening,” she adds with a sigh. “I don’t think my parents will get me another one.”
Or will they? “We’ll see… we’ll see,” hedges the actress’ mother, Natasha McCoy. “It’s hard to resist all these pictures she’s been texting me from rescue sites. They all look similar to Poké, with scruffy little faces.”
It sounds like Santa may just be in McCoy’s corner on this one!
