She brings with her ex­pe­ri­ence in strate­gic and man­age­rial op­er­a­tional plan­ning and pol­icy for­mu­la­tion on peace and se­cu­rity in Africa. Most re­cently, Ms. Gue­bre Sel­lassie served as the direc­tor and head of the United Na­tions peace­keep­ing mis­sion in the Demo­cratic Repub­lic of the Congo’s Goma Re­gional Of­fice from 2007. Ab­doulaye Bathily of Sene­gal as his spe­cial rep­re­sen­ta­tive for Cen­tral Africa and head of the UN Re­gional Of­fice for Cen­tral Africa in Li­bre­ville, Gabon. Be­fore his ap­point­ment, Mr. Bathily served as deputy spe­cial rep­re­sen­ta­tive in the UN Mul­ti­di­men­sional In­te­grated Sta­bi­liza­tion Mis­sion in Mali. He brings with him years of po­lit­i­cal, diplo­matic and aca­demic ex­pe­ri­ence, through ser­vice with both his gov­ern­ment and the United Na­tions Sys­tem. Mr. Bathily suc­ceeds Abou Moussa of Chad.
