CESSNA CAN PUT ITS TROPHY for having the fastest civilian jet back on the shelf. Over two days last October, the company’s new Citation X+, which the Federal Aviation Administration certificated the previous June, set four speed records, including a coast-to-coast flight. The original Citation X held the fastest civilian jet title until the Gulfstream G650 took it in 2008. Now Cessna’s next-generation Citation can take 12 passengers from Seattle to Miami in just four hours and 52 minutes at its Mach 0.935 max cruising speed.

The recordbreaking Citation X+ cruises at just under Mach 1.
