Hey, That’s Me

As a for­mer Navy F-4 driver, I was turn­ing the pages of the Feb./mar. 2015 is­sue to find your cover story (“Any Mis­sion at Mach 2”) when I saw, with great de­light, the photo in the up­per left cor­ner on page 42: a shot of my VF-111 F-4B, with me fly­ing it, drop­ping the stan­dard load of six Mk 82 bombs on a tar­get in Laos in early 1972. The pic­ture was taken by Lieu­tenant Com­man­der Tim Hub­bard, and he had to dive with me to get the shot. We ar­ranged for the pic­ture op­por­tu­nity be­cause Laos was a lowthreat tar­get area; I sus­pect we would not have done it over North Viet­nam.
