The Ja­panese Space Agency just made all the el­e­va­tion data from its DAICHI space­craft pub­licly avail­able. DAICHI was launched in 2006 and op­er­ated for five years, tak­ing pre­cise land mea­sure­ments that were used for, among other things, study­ing dis­as­ter sites. JAXA is us­ing the mis­sion’s three mil­lion im­ages to pro­duce a 3D map of the world.
