Marjorie Joyce “Joy” Cooper

-

COPLEY - Marjorie Joyce “Joy” Cooper, beloved mother and grandmother, went home to the Lord on July 22, 2023, at age 83, after an unexpected illness. Joy did not want to leave her family and fought fiercely and heroically to stay on earth, but Joy eventually passed with her loving family at her side accompanied by prayer and her favorite music. Joy is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Margaret Bogler, loving husband, Benjamin Cooper, and beloved dog, Bentley.

Joy was born April 23, 1940, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from Ursuline College where she expanded her Catholic faith. Joy will be forever remembered for her kindness, beautiful smile, positivity, forgiving nature and great love of her family. She had a zest for life and enjoyed participating in any activity that involved her family. Joy had a beautiful singing voice and spent years singing in the St. Hilary’s Catholic Church choir as well as performing for Pope John Paul II in Italy with the Voices of Ascension Choral Ensemble in 1999.

Joy was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren and loved them dearly. Joy will be profoundly missed by her daughter and best friend, Cynthia “Cindy” Miszuk (Alfred Roth). Anywhere Cindy was, Joy was likely right by her side, and they wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Joy will also be remembered and missed by her other three children; sons, Kenneth Cooper (Jeri) and Kevin Cooper (Julie) and daughter, Christy Basilone (Jim). Joy was instrumental in helping raise her grandchildren, Tyler and Jordyn Miszuk, and had a huge impact in their lives. She showered them with love and encouragement and instilled faith in their lives and love of family. Joy never missed a performance, sporting event or activity and was their biggest fan. Joy will be sorely missed by Tyler and Jordyn Miszuk, as well as by her 3 additional grandchildren: Ryan Cooper (Susan), Shannon Cooper and Rachael Cooper; along with extended family and friends.
