BARBERTON - Daniel Paul Blaner, 80, passed away February 22, 2024 with his family by his side at Pleasant View Health Care Center.

Dan was born in Akron and resided in Barberton all his life. He retired in 2001 from The Akron Beacon Journal after 32 years of service. Dan enjoyed many hobbies and had a great love for bass fishing that he shared with his best friend of over 40 years, Curt Rosio. He was also an avid car enthusiast; owning many cars throughout his lifetime and his most prized possession being his Corvettes. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the National Lodge 568 F. & A.M. Dan was also proud U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Preceded in death by his parents Steve and Mary; and siblings Joe, Dorothy and Edward. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Nancy; daughter Kristine Russo; and granddaugh­ter Marissa Russo.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Pleasant View Health Care Center and Traditions Hospice for their excellent care.

Dan’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton. Entombment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling Hours will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024 from 4-8 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton.
