Akron police investigate death of 47-year-old man found shot Friday
A 47-year-old man died Friday night after he was found on the 800 block of East Wilbeth Road with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso, Akron police said in a news release.
Akron police officers who responded to the incident administered emergency first aid until EMS arrived and transported the victim to Summa Akron City Hospital, where the victim was pronounced deceased.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending further investigation.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown. Preliminary findings suggest the victim was shot while on the 1300 block of South Arlington Street and was later dropped off at the East Wilbeth Road location shortly after he was shot.
Additional information will be provided as the investigation progresses, according to the police department.

Registration opens for robotics youth summer camps in Kent
KSS Robotics, a nonprofit Kent-based STEM education and advocacy organization, has opened registration for two youth camps this summer.
A Lego and STEM Camp will be available for youths entering third through sixth grades during the 202425 school year.
Camps will run 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 24-28 and July 8-12. Optional extended times are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost for a week is $250, plus $50 for the optional extended time.
A robotics engineering camp is available for students entering seventh through 10th grades during the 2024-25 school year.
The camp is a three-week program that will run Monday through Fridays, from July 15 to Aug. 2. Times each day, including the optional extended time, are the same as Lego & STEM Camp.
Cost is $750 for three weeks, plus $50 per week for optional extended hours.
