Baby swings sold at Walmart recalled for suffocation hazard

- Chad Murphy

Parents, check your baby swing. One sold at Walmart is being recalled because it might harm infants.

Jool Baby has issued a recall for 63,100 Nova baby swings due to a suffocation hazard, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Here's what to know.

Why are these swings being recalled?

According to the commission, the swings pose a suffocation risk because they were intended for infant sleep, but have an incline angle greater than 10 degrees in violation of the CPSC's Infant Sleep Products Regulation and the Safe Sleep for Babies Act. In addition, the swing fails to meet mandatory warning requirements regarding sleep under the swing standard.

Which swings are affected by the recall?

The recalled swings were manufactured from June 2022 through September 2023. “Jool Baby” appears on the swing's base and “NOVA” on the seat label. The manufacturing date code in month, day, year format can be found on the sewn-in warning label on the back of the swing's seat.

Where were they sold?

The baby swings were sold between November 2022 and November 2023 at Walmart, and online at Jool Baby, BabyList,

Target and other websites.

What action should people take?

Parents should immediately stop using the recalled swings for sleep, the CPSC says, and contact Jool Baby to receive a free repair kit, consisting of a new seat with updated on-product warnings, updated plush toys and an updated remote control.
