Akron man charged with kidnapping teen, baby

A 22-year-old Akron man accused of kidnapping his 1-year-old daughter and her teenage mother from Southwest Ohio was arrested in Akron on Monday afternoon, according to a Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Taskforce news release.

Akron police and task force members arrested Bayron Tejeda at a home in the 300 block of Gibbs Avene.

The 1-year-old Sara Herrera and 17year-old Maoly Toscana Herrera were found safe at the same location.

The mother and daughter were previously last seen at 4:30 a.m. Monday at a foster home in West Chester near Cincinnati, Assistant Police Chief Lt. Col. Brian Rebholz said.

Officers were dispatched to the home after they received a call that the pair were abducted.

Tejeda will be held locally before being extradited to West Chester, according to the news release.

Akron man identified as suspect in fatal hit-skip

Police are seeking a 23-year-old Akron man wanted in the fatal hit-and-run crash that left Jimmy Fletcher, 47, dead nearly one month ago, according to an Akron Police Department news release.

Officers identified a white 2013 Chevy Cruze involved in the crash and tracked it to Ashtabula where it was towed back to Akron on March 7.

Investigat­ors determined David Farren was the driver at the time of the crash. He is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and other related charges.

Police described Farren as having brown hair and hazel eyes. He is about six feet, four inches tall and weighs about 188 pounds.

Fletcher was riding a bicycle north on

South Arlington Street when he was struck by a white sedan that turned onto Ray Street, police said in February.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Feb. 9. Officers found him lying unconsciou­s on the ground. He was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital where he was later pronounced dead Feb. 12.

Father plead guilty over 6-year-old’s fatal fentanyl contact

The father of a 6-year-old boy who died after a possible fentanyl exposure pleaded guilty Monday to involuntar­y manslaught­er, a first-degree felony, according to Summit County prosecutor­s.

William Huston, 32 of Akron, also pleaded guilty to endangerin­g children, a third-degree felony, and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a felony five. A possession of cocaine charge was dismissed.

Represente­d by attorney Job Perry, Huston was scheduled for a jury trial

Monday. That trial was canceled in light of his plea.

Huston is the second person to plead guilty to the death of Logan Huston. The child’s mother, Emmalee Huston, 32, pleaded guilty in early February to involuntar­y manslaught­er.

Summit County Common Pleas Judge Tammy O’Brien sentenced her to 3 to 41⁄2 years in prison.

‘Antiques Roadshow’ pushes back its Akron visit

Akron’s debut on “Antiques Roadshow” has been pushed back by a week.

The Akron episodes of the popular show on PBS will now air nationally on April 29, May 6 and May 13 − a week later than previously announced.

The Akron stop was taped in June and is part of the show’s 28th season of the show and features stops in other cities including Sturbridge, Mass.; Baton Rouge, La.; Raleigh, N.C.
