impact. In 2016, the museum garnered recognition for its exhibition “Milton Avery’s Vermont” in The Wall Street Journal and The Boston Globe, which increased attendance by 46 percent, only to be surpassed in 2017 with “Grandma Moses: American Modern.”
The result has been
enhanced narratives developed through deeper cultural “constructs,” says Bill Barstow, a Vermont state legislature, former member of the Vermont Council of the Arts and artist.
“It is cross-disciplinary with a sense of plurality,” he says. “It connects with more people from different backgrounds, which increases the value of what the museum does and its role in the community. It has been interesting to watch so far.”
