Summer dance lessons back in Spa
Eight weeks of summer dance sessions return to the National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs, offered by the Lewis A. Swyer School of the Arts, through Aug. 17.
Classes include modern, contemporary, Irish step, tap, strength and flexibility, Middle Eastern dance, Zumba and several levels of ballet.
New members of the School of the Arts faculty include Damon Honeycutt, a trans-disciplinary artist and former Pilobolous dancer who will teach kung fu for dance, and Leslie Kettlewell, a renowned dance educator who will lead children’s yoga and movement, creative movement and pre-ballet.
Kettlewell also joined the staff of the National Museum of Dance as director of children’s programming.
Immediately following the summer session, the one-week School of the Arts summer dance intensive will run from Aug. 20-25.
Designed for intermediate and advanced students, the intensive will be led by a faculty of master instructors including former Philadanco dancer Joan Kilgore and former New York City Ballet dancer William Otto. Classes will include ballet technique, pointe, repertoire, jazz, modern, ballroom and drama.
