Skidmore hosts Frances Day July 14
The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College will open its doors for a day of free events during the fifth annual Frances Day, a community open house which runs from 2 to 6 p.m. July 14.
On tap are multiple contemporary art exhibitions, art-making activities, food, music and fun in honor of the museum’s namesake, Frances Young Tang.
New this year, visitors will have an opportunity to interact with artists whose work is exhibited in the museum, including Wendy Red Star, Kamau Amu Patton and Dona Nelson. Dayton director Ian Berry will lead a gallery tour of Nelson’s career survey, “Dona Nelson: Stand Alone Paintings.”
Also new to the event is a behind the scenes tour with Rachel Seligman, assistant director for curatorial affairs and Malloy curator.
