Hudson Price Chopper closes
The Price Chopper on Fairview Avenue closed its doors at 6 p.m. on Saturday, the supermarket’s spokeswoman Mona Golub said.
The Price Chopper location will be the site of a new full-service Shoprite, which will move from its Healy Boulevard location.
Shoprite spokeswoman Karen O’shea said the Price Chopper building will be renovated and allow the supermarket to include a pharmacy because it will be 6,000 square feet larger.
According to Hudson Valley 360, the store employs 106 who are not guaranteed to find a job at another Price Chopper location. Golub also told the newspaper that the closure should be blamed on “economic decline” in the surrounding area.
