Store leaves Troy for Schenectady
Bluebird Home and Gift, a home decor and gift store formerly located in Troy, celebrated its grand opening in Schenectady on Friday.
Owner Nicolle Broughton closed her store on Third Street in Troy, where she had been in business for four years, to open in a newly renovated space at 514 State St. Bluebird carries repurposed lighting, handmade jewelry, antique and vintage pieces, original art, vintage rugs, unique gifts, home fragrances and body care items. Tentative hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, but hours may change. Find out more at http://bluebird-homedecor.com.
New apartment complex in Rotterdam
In suburban Schenectady County news, Richbell Capital on Friday celebrated the opening of the first phase of the Residences at Vista Square in Rotterdam. The building is the first of eight three-story apartment buildings planned for the site, where the Curry Road Shopping Plaza once stood. The Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority contributed a $350,000 grant to pay for demolition and site work.
The one, two and threebedroom apartments range from 875 to 1,350 square feet with monthly rents from $1,250 to $1,950. Amenities include elevators, indoor parking and private patios and balconies.
