Sheary scores twice on power play; Hut­ton has 43 saves for Buf­falo

Conor Sheary scored two power-play goals and Carter Hut­ton made 43 saves as the Buf­falo Sabres beat the New York Rangers 3-1 on Satur­day night for their first vic­tory of the sea­son.

Cap­tain Jack Eichel added an empty-net goal. Af­ter be­ing booed by their home fans in a shutout loss to Bos­ton in Thurs­day’s opener, the Sabres (1-1-0) snapped a six-game home skid.

Brett How­den scored for the Rangers, who fell to 0-2 un­der first-year coach David Quinn.

Hen­rik Lundqvist made 26 saves. The Rangers out­shot the Sabres in all three pe­ri­ods and fin­ished with a 44-29 ad­van­tage. preda­tors 4, is­lan­ders 3: Vik­tor Arvids­son scored twice as Nash­ville spoiled New York’s home opener.
