Dutch­men’s run­ning game grinds out win over Rochester

Union rushes for 299 yards, in­clud­ing 175, 2 TDS by Ira­bor

Ike Ira­bor rushed for 175 yards and two touch­downs to lead Union to a 35-14 win over vis­it­ing Rochester on Satur­day at Frank Bai­ley Field in Sch­enec­tady.

The Dutch­men scored the game’s first 35 points and coasted to the vic­tory to move to 6-2 over­all and 2-2 in the Lib­erty League.

An­dre Ross Jr. hauled in a 2-yard touch­down pass from Will Bel­lamy, and Travis Demby had a 9-yard touch­down run to put Union in front 14-0 in the first quar­ter.

Ira­bor scored both of his touch­downs in the se­cond quar­ter, the first on a 9-yard run and the se­cond on a 43-yard run, to send the Dutch­men into half­time with a com­fort­able 28-0 lead.

Packy Brown opened the scor­ing in the se­cond half with a 5-yard touch­down re­cep­tion from Bel­lamy to make it 35-0.

Rochester tacked on two fourth-quar­ter touch­downs, on Henry Joseph­son’s 4-yard catch and Stephen Glin­ski’s 10-yard re­cep­tion, to close the game.

Union rushed for 299 yards, in­clud­ing 196 in the first half.

Rochester drops to 1-8 and 0-5 in league play.

The Dutch­men close out the reg­u­lar sea­son at noon Satur­day against ri­val RPI in the Dutch­man Shoes game.
