Duffy’s late goal lands Queensbury in state semi

Brendon Duffy’s goal snapped a 1-1 deadlock with just 17 seconds left in regulation to give Queensbury a 2-1 victory over Section III’S Fulton on Saturday in a Class A boys’ soccer state regional contest in Liverpool.

The Spartans trailed 1-0 in the first half before Alex Roca evened the game 17 minutes before the halftime break. The game remained tied until just before the final whistle when Duffy moved the Spartans forward to next Saturday’s state semifinal round in Middletown. More boys’ soccer: Schalmont tied

Brooke Pickett, Teya Staie and Keelyn Peacock all scored two goals apiece to help the Warriors roll into the semifinal round . ... Field hockey: Hoosick Falls kept its perfect season intact, edging Section I’s Pawling, 1-0, in its Class C state regional contest. girls’ swimming: Shenendeho­wa topped rival Niskayuna to take the Section II Division I title. The Plainsmen totaled 441 points to the Silver Warriors second-place total of 407. Bethlehem was a distant third with 254 points. The Shenendeho­wa 200yard medley relay team of Alice Han, Alison Sposili, Shauna Killane and Natasha Sheffer took first with a time of 1:47.88. In Division II, Queensbury captured the Section II crown with 401.5 points. Glens Falls placed second with 294. Sarah Little won the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.03 and Willow Swan-scott was first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.20 to lead Queensbury.

girls’ volleyball: Voorheesvi­lle claimed its second straight state tournament berth with a 3-1 win over Fonda in the Section II Class C championsh­ip in Saratoga . ... Mayfield captured the Section II Class D crown, upsetting top-seeded Galway to earn a trip to the state tournament.
