Actions spew hatred, encourage divisiveness

- Susan Morse Delmar

The bombing devices sent to public servants and CNN highlight once again the extreme polarization of our country under the so-called “leadership” of President Donald Trump. His first teleprompter remarks called for unity and justice but, left on his own at a rally for supporters, his ugly words were more brazen than ever as he blamed the news media and worked up the cheering crowd. Frightening. At another packed rally he physically demonstrated a sucker punch from a politician to a reporter, to loud applause from the packed audience. By his words, tweets and actions (on so many fronts since he was inaugurated), he spews hatred and encourages divisiveness. On yet another shocking day in our country, Trump never effectively calmed the nation, expressed anger for the attempts to injure or kill two former presidents or empathized with the fear experienced by the hundreds of persons who had to be evacuated. He certainly does not represent our cherished American values.
