Slumping Knights fall in pair of road tilts

The College of Saint Rose men’s basketball team dropped its second straight, losing to host American Internatio­nal, 75-52, on Saturday in Springfiel­d, Mass.

American Internatio­nal connected on 52 percent (26-of-50) of its shots from the field to move to 2-0 in the Northeast-10 Conference and 2-2 overall.

Saint Rose sophomore guard Adam Anderson scored a teambest 12 points and freshman forward Sekou Sylla added 10 for the Golden Knights, who dropped to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Senior Andrew Anderson had 16 points to lead the Yellow Jackets.

On the women’s side, American Internatio­nal raced out to a 41-16 halftime lead and coasted to an 82-53 victory over Saint Rose on Saturday in Springfiel­d.

The Golden Knights have now dropped two straight since starting the season with two wins to dip to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference.

The Yellow Jackets built a 20-11 lead at the end of the first quarter before outscoring Saint Rose 21-5 in the second to put the game away.

Courtney Clasen led the Golden Knights with 14 points while Nina Fedullo chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.

Ishanna Brown scored 22 points and Dana Watts added 15 points and 10 rebounds for American Internatio­nal, which picked up its first win and climbed to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in league play.
