Women fall short de­spite Frames’ 23

The Ual­bany women’s bas­ket­ball team just came up short in dou­ble over­time, 67-66, to host Lafayette on Satur­day af­ter­noon in Eas­ton, Pa.

Kyara Frames led the Great Danes (1-7), fin­ish­ing with 23 points and seven re­bounds. She made three 3-point­ers and was 5-for-7 from the foul line.

Frames hit a 3-pointer with 27 sec­onds left to give Ual­bany a 66-65 lead, but Olivia Mar­tino, who led Lafayette with 19 points, made a bas­ket with 18 sec­onds to play to win the game.

Ual­bany’s Amanda Kantzy had 11 points, and Heather Forster fin­ished with nine points and a game­high 16 re­bounds for the Danes.

The Leop­ards (4-3) got 12 points from Alex Cantwell.

Ual­bany had a 10-point lead at the half, 30-20, but couldn’t main­tain the ad­van­tage. Lafayette outscored Al­bany 19-8 in the fourth to even it at 53.

Both teams man­aged only six points in the first over­time to leave things dead­locked at 59 go­ing to the sec­ond over­time.

The Great Danes come home Wed­nes­day to face Cen­tral Con­necti­cut State at 7 p.m.

The Blue Devils are 1-5 so far this season.
