Women fall short despite Frames’ 23
The Ualbany women’s basketball team just came up short in double overtime, 67-66, to host Lafayette on Saturday afternoon in Easton, Pa.
Kyara Frames led the Great Danes (1-7), finishing with 23 points and seven rebounds. She made three 3-pointers and was 5-for-7 from the foul line.
Frames hit a 3-pointer with 27 seconds left to give Ualbany a 66-65 lead, but Olivia Martino, who led Lafayette with 19 points, made a basket with 18 seconds to play to win the game.
Ualbany’s Amanda Kantzy had 11 points, and Heather Forster finished with nine points and a gamehigh 16 rebounds for the Danes.
The Leopards (4-3) got 12 points from Alex Cantwell.
Ualbany had a 10-point lead at the half, 30-20, but couldn’t maintain the advantage. Lafayette outscored Albany 19-8 in the fourth to even it at 53.
Both teams managed only six points in the first overtime to leave things deadlocked at 59 going to the second overtime.
The Great Danes come home Wednesday to face Central Connecticut State at 7 p.m.
The Blue Devils are 1-5 so far this season.
