Streaks se­niors shine at na­tion­als

Saratoga’s Ch­miel 2nd in girls race; Weil­baker places 25th in boys race

Kelsey Ch­miel of Saratoga Springs placed sec­ond at the girls’ Nike Cross Na­tion­als on Satur­day in Port­land, Ore.

Ch­miel, run­ning for the Ki­netic Run­ning Club, fin­ished with a time of 16 min­utes, 54.8 sec­onds which was just be­hind ri­val Kate­lyn Tuohy (New

York-1) who won the race in 16:37.8. Other Ki­netic fin­ish­ers in­cluded Ella Kurto (45th18:01.9), Mckin­ley Wheeler (99th-18:43.9), Sheri­dan Wheeler (126th-19:04.2), Emily Bush (135th-19:11.0), Ciara Knott (157th-19:29.8) and Skyler Knott (161st-19:33.4).

Cen­tral Ore­gon was the top team with 120 points while Ki­netic fin­ished sixth with 228 points.

On the boys side, Saratoga’s Shea Weil­baker fin­ished 25th with a time of 15:27.7 to lead all lo­cal run­ners.

Burnt Hills run­ners filled out the rest of the lo­cal field with Tyler Berg plac­ing 32nd with a time of 15:33.6 and Ai­dan Gil­loo­ley fin­ished 88th in 16:07.1. Other Spar­tans fin­ish­ers in­cluded

Evan Bren­nan (96th-16:11.7), Nick Hun­ziker (155th-16:46.2), David Me­tacarpa (156th16:48.0), Kevin Board (165th16:51.6) and Dante Ubri­aco (191st-17:17.5).

Pur­cel­lville took the top spot with 77 points while Burnt Hills placed 14th with 323 points.

Girls’ bas­ket­ball: Ju­nior Ah­niysha Jack­son snapped a three-pointer with three-sec­onds left in reg­u­la­tion to lift un­beaten Al­bany to a 61-59 win over host Sauger­ties in a non-league con­test. Jack­son fin­ished with a game­high 14 points for the Fal­cons, who im­proved to 2-0 over­all on the young season. Ju­na­sia Lanier added nine points for Al­bany . ... Amanda God­frey led Fort Ann to a 52-24 win over Keene with 24 points, 12 re­bounds and seven steals. Sarah Paige fol­lowed with nine points and Kayla Bai­ley with eight points, nine re­bounds and nine steals.

Boys’ bas­ket­ball: Gloversville out­lasted Columbia Prep, 82-80, in a non-league game in Man­hat­tan. Dante Bouchard scored 35 points and Joseph Row­back chipped in with 25 points for the Dragons . ... Car­son Mosher hit a 3-pointer with 2.4 sec­onds left to play to give Green­wich a 71-70 win over Melone. Mosher fin­ished with 12 points. John Walsh led with 25 points, go­ing 9-for-11 from the free throw line and Jesse Kuzmich added 15 points.
