Gas station robbed in Guilderland
GUILDERLAND — Town police are searching for the suspect who robbed the Mobil gas station at 3605 Carman Road late Friday.
The crime occurred about 11 p.m. when the suspect entered the gas station displaying a handgun and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes, police said. He fled on foot heading west on Carman Road.
The clerk was not injured. The suspect is described as black, about 5-foot-5, wearing a red sweatshirt, blue jeans, gray and white sneakers and a blue bandana on his face.
Guilderland police officers and a police canine searched the area with help from Rotterdam police and the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office.
Body recovered from Hudson River
TROY — A woman’s body was pulled from the Hudson River by a tugboat crew off Albany after she apparently jumped from the Troy-menands Bridge, according to Troy fire and police Friday.
The woman’s car was found in the middle of the bridge, Deputy Police Chief Daniel Dewolf said.
The fire department was bringing its fire boat to the river when the tugboat recovered the body, Fire Chief Thomas Garrett said.
The name of the woman has not been released.
10-year prison term in shots-fired case
ALBANY — A city man was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison for shooting a gun into the air during a child custody exchange last year, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.
Keith Gillespie, 50, was found guilty in October of three counts of felony criminal possession of a weapon anda count of misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.
The court found Gillespie guilty of shooting off the gun twice during the custody exchange Nov. 24, 2017, near a home on Clinton Avenue. Officials said Gillespie pointed the gun at two victims he knew, then fled into an apartment and ditched the gun in the backyard.
Cocaine, pot seized in Schuylerville
SCHUYLERVILLE — State Police seized a pound of “high grade cocaine,” two pounds of marijuana, steroids and $4,000 in cash Friday after searching a home near the Schuylerville school campus.
Arrested were Peter D. Hockford, 49, of Schuylerville; Collin Morency, 19, of Greenwich; and William Bullard, 30, of Hudson Falls, State Police said.
Hockford was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and felony criminal marijuana possession and several misdemeanor charges, police said. Both Morency and Bullard were charged with felony criminal sale of controlled substance.
After arraignment, bail was set for Morency and Bullard. Hockford is being held without bail in the Saratoga County Jail.
