Turning guns into artwork novel approach

Albany Times Union - Sunday - - PERSPECTIVE -

The anti-war concept of turning swords into plowshares is being cleverly adopted to combat gun violence while advancing art in Schenectady.

The idea of melting the armaments of war for farm tools inspired Rachel Conn of the Hamilton Hill Arts Center, who wants guns collected in a future buyback program to be melted for sculptures to adorn a park on Schenectady Street.

With gun-related deaths in the city down in 2018, perhaps the park could help continue that trend.
