Glens Falls tops team from Georgia to finish third in its bracket

Joseph Girard III produced a season-high 59 points Saturday to lead Glens Falls to an 80-65 victory over Brunswick (Ga.) in the third-place Signature Series game at the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.

Girard, who won the 3-point shooting contest Wednesday at the event featuring 26 teams, scored a season-low 22 points in a 78-56 loss Thursday to Petal (Miss.). Saturday, Girard made 20 of 42 shots from the field against Brunswick — including 11-for-29 accuracy from 3-point range — to go with seven rebounds, five steals and four assists. He was named to the all-tournament team.

More boys’ basketball: Columbia rallied for 28 fourth-quarter points and nipped Mekeel Christian, 73-70, in a nonleague clash. Alex Adams scored 25 points and Dylan Ouimette had 21, including 11 in the fourth quarter, to help the Blue Devils improve to 6-1. Al Barnhill scored a game-high 31 points and Ozzie Dejesus added 28 for the Lions . ... Tamarac used a 23-7 second-quarter advantage to pull away for a 64-51 win over host Fort Ann in another nonleague game. Bo Catherwood had 18 for the Bengals (5-1).

Girls’ basketball: Warrensbur­g earned its 10th straight win and kept its season record perfect with a 56-30 decision over host Hudson Falls in a nonleague game in Hudson Falls. Megan Hughes scored 34 points and had 20 rebounds for the Burghers (10-0).
