Curling Club plans winter open house

ALBANY — The Albany Curling Club’s annual winter open house is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the club’s facility, 117 West Mckown Road (off Schoolhous­e Road).

Experience­d curlers will guide visitors to deliver the curling stone and sweep it down the ice. Visitors who want to try curling should wear warm, loose clothing and bring clean sneakers. Children younger than 18 must be accompanie­d by a parent or legal guardian. Light refreshmen­ts will be served.

Skating Club offers free lessons at event

BETHLEHEM — Try a free skating lesson when the Albany Figure Skating Club has an open house 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 5, at the Bethlehem YMCA, 900 Delaware Ave.

Coaches will be on the ice to give mini-lessons and to answer questions about the club’s Learn to Skate program. Skate rentals will be available.

The program will begin Jan. 12 and will held Saturdays through March 9 at the Bethlehem YMCA. Classes will be open to beginning and advanced skaters ages 3 through adult. Skaters do not need to be YMCA members.

Orchestra to hold rehearsals Jan. 7

BETHLEHEM — Rehearsals for the Delmar Community Orchestra’s winter-spring season will be held 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at the Bethlehem Town Hall auditorium, 445 Delaware Ave.

Conducted by Vincent Bonafede, the orchestra will rehearse weekly Monday evenings.

It will perform a series of four concerts: two concerts for residents of area nursing homes and two public concerts.

New members are welcome, and instrument­alists of all ages may participat­e.
