American Renegades
Two European conflicts separated by decades collide when a group of renegade American Navy SEALS on a mission in Sarajevo in 1995 uncover evidence of a cache of gold ingots hidden by the Nazis during World War II. The group becomes determined to retrieve the fortune from its flooded vault so that they can help the people of the war-torn country. But with another group also after the gold and the vault located at the bottom of a lake, the unauthorized mission may be the most difficult one that the elite team has ever faced. Thirteen-year-old Stevie (Suljic) isn’t happy with his life at home, where he lives with his single mom (Waterston) and his aggressive brother (Hedges). When he meets a group of older boys who are into skateboarding, Stevie gets his own skateboard and is quickly accepted into their circle of friends, despite his young age. As he gets pulled deeper into the older kids’ world, Stevie starts drinking, smoking, doing drugs and experiences many “first times” that most kids his age haven’t even thought of yet. Both his mom and brother grow increasingly concerned about the direction his life is headed, especially when the ties that bind the group of youth together begin to fray.
