Competitors represent region in pageants
Two local young women are contestants in pageants taking place at the Performing Arts Center in Purchase on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Lois Freemantle, 14, of Nassau, above left, competing in Miss New York Teen USA, attends Columbia High School in East Greenbush and volunteered at the Nassau resource food bank. She plays violin and takes tae kwon do as a yellow belt. She recently got to meet Miss Universe Demi Leigh Peters. Maya Wilson of Latham, above right, a Colonie Central High School graduate attending Hudson Valley Community College for human services, is competing in Miss New York USA. She was named to the HVCC president’s list and completed all required full-time fall semester classes. She is an after-school counselor for TSL adventure at the Niskayuna Reformed Church.
