It’s been more than three decades since The Jayhawks came out of Minneapolis and turned heads with their genre-defining rootsy twang-pop. The Jayhawks are still wowing critics and fans with their 10th album, 2018’s “Back Roads and Abandoned Motels.” The record includes songs original band member Gary Louris wrote outside the band as well as several new Jayhawks tunes. The group, which also features original bassist Marc Perlman and longtime drummer Tim O’reagan and keyboardist Karen Grotberg, is having a good time playing shows they want to play, without the pressures of constant touring. There will be smiles all around when the band brings its catchy altcountry to town this week. 7:30 p.m. Thursday. $39.50. The Egg, Empire State Plaza, Albany. 518-473-1845; theegg.org
