Trump passing the buck to make bigger bucks

-

President Donald Trump, when asked about the recent actions and policies of the U.S. Postal Service, responded by lauding Postmaster General Louis Dejoy. When Lafayette Square was cleared by federal employees, he said he was unaware of the tactics used. When citizens’ lives are endangered due to the failings of testing and shortages of personal protective equipment, Trump says it’s the governors’ responsibility.

President Harry Truman had a sign on his desk saying the “Buck Stops Here.” The Constitution makes the president responsible for the policy and actions of the executive branch. We can no longer allow Trump to pass the buck and get away with not taking responsibility for the policies and actions of his executive branch.

Trump is setting it up to make the bucks when he leaves office. The planned relocation of the FBI headquarters was scrapped for the more costly rebuilding of it at its present location, a block from Trump International Hotel. Trump requested the American ambassador to Britain to look into getting the British government to help move the British Open golf tournament to the Trump Turnberry resort in Scotland.

Former Vice President Joe Biden was responsible for overseeing the infrastructure spending in the stimulus package that pulled us out of a recession. He successfully led the congressional panel to reach a bipartisan deal on the debt ceiling, which included the 2011 Budget Control Act and planned deficit reduction.

Who do we want for president? The one who “passes the buck” and is planning to use the presidency to make “the bucks?” Or the one who accepted responsibility and got the job done? Joely Miller Rexford
