SARATOGA SPRINGS — A stranger who startled a woman by making his way through her Broadway apartment window then fleeing when she yelled at him was eventually picked up for drunken driving, city police said.

Police said they were called shortly before midnight Thursday for a burglary-in-progress on Broadway near Caroline Street. The woman, 64, reported that a man unknown to her began climbing through an open living room window. She yelled, he ran.

Officers in the area, working with a description provided by the woman, found the 25-yearold Latham man behind the wheel of a 2010 Toyota Camry at Broadway and Division Street. They said he was intoxicated.

He was arrested on burglary and DWI charges, as well as ticketed for driving an unregistered car, arraigned and jailed police said.
