Albany Academy still perfect

Savoca, O’keefe have hits as Cadets rally vs. Schalmont

Albany Academy rallied from a huge deficit to beat Schalmont 12-6 and remained undefeated in a Colonial Council baseball game in Rotterdam.

The Sabres built a 6-0 lead after two innings on Cadets starter Alex Gay, but only one of the runs was earned.

Geneo Savoca homered and drove in two runs and Aidan O’keefe drove in two more runs and scored twice as Albany Academy scored five runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth.

Gay went 5 1 ⁄3 innings, walking one and striking out seven to earn the win.

More baseball: Vincent Venditti allowed three hits over six scoreless innings and homered to spark Burnt Hills to a 4-0 win over Saratoga . ... Collin Kalteux hit a grand slam and Anthony Fiacco struck out seven as Mechanicvi­lle remained undefeated (5-0 ,4-0) with a 19-1 win at Berlin-new Lebanon . ... Cal Vanderveer hit a three-run home run as Shenendeho­wa earned its second win with a 9-8 victory at Colonie. Zach Ashline hit a two-run homer for Colonie (3-3) . ... Carter Albano went 4-for-4 with three RBIS and three runs as Columbia topped Bethlehem 15-9. T.J. Strevell and Brandon Biggane homered for the Blue Devils, while Brendan Pajak and Caden Bernardo hit long balls for the Eagles.

Softball: Anna Cleary hurled a complete-game five-hitter and struck out nine as Bethlehem beat Columbia 6-1 in Suburban Council action. Grace Dibacco had two hits to lead the Eagles’ offense . ... Saratoga scored six runs in the third inning and four more in the fifth and beat Burnt Hills 12-5. Catcher Lindsey Bell had three hits and five RBIS in the win.

Girls’ lacrosse: Avery Jones scored 10 goals and also had three assists to cap a 13-point day and lead Bethlehem to a 24-5 win over Columbia in a Suburban Council contest. Bethlehem improved to 3-1 with the victory.

Boys’ lacrosse: Ballston Spa kept its perfect record intact with an 11-9 victory over Suburban foe Shaker. Owen Walsh and Erik Gottman both had three goals apiece to lead the Scotties’ attack. Ballston Spa climbed to 6-0 with the win.
