Outdoor Community Market fundraisers for Saratoga Children’s Theatre in Saratoga Springs will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays July 11, 18, 25, Aug. 8 and 15 at 615 Maple Avenue. Includes an open mic.
CAP COM Cares Foundation’s BIG Benefit Raffle , a twomonth campaign offering a chance to win up to $10,000, will run through Sept. 3 or when tickets sell out. It will raise $125,000: $26,000 will be awarded to nine ticket winners for cash prizes between $1,000 and $10,000; $10,000 will go to The Food Pantries for the Capital District; and the remaining $89,000 will be distributed to the foundation’s nonprofit partners.
The newly-formed Granville
Community Foundation has passed the halfway point on its $1 million goal for 2021. Launched by Paula and Michael Freed with a $250,000 commitment in December, the foundation now has $566,275 committed, which puts it more than halfway toward the goal. SUNY Empire State College held a dedication ceremony July 1 to announce its new Resilience Garden , celebrating the compassion and courage of the college community during the pandemic and honoring all New Yorkers impacted by COVID-19. Last fall, college staff and administration planted dozens of Asiatic lilies at the entrance of 113 West Ave. in Saratoga Springs. The lilies were donated to the college by Lisa Johnson, a project coordinator at SUNY Empire.
Registration is open for the 35th annual Run for the Roses 5K Foot Race on Sunday,

Rising Tamarac High School Senior Shay Kerwin has won a $1,000 scholarship for his winning efforts in the American Heart Association’s inaugural Teen of Impact campaign in Upstate New York. Kerwin raised $23,453 in eight weeks and when the upstate competition closed, he was No. 2 in the nation.
Regional athletes with disabilities from STRIDE Adaptive Sports crossed the 5K finish line at Jennings Landing in Albany last month. A group of regional businesses led by presenting sponsor American National Insurance and many individual donors helped the event raise $25,000 for supporting sports and recreation programs for participants with disabilities.
