Ronaldo scores twice in Manchester return
MANCHESTER, England — Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice on his return to Manchester United after 12 years in a 4-1 victory over Newcastle in the English Premier League on Saturday. There was a tap-in from Ronaldo in the first half and a low strike after the break to restore the lead after Javier Manquillo equalized.
The 36-year-old Portugal forward secured an unexpected return to United when he was sold by Juventus last month.

Sailing: Jimmy Spithill’s Team USA welcomed back wing trimmer Paul Campbell-James from a broken leg and won two of the three fleet races Saturday in SailGP’s regatta on the French Riviera. The U.S. team has 20 points, followed by New Zealand with 17. Spain has 16, Japan 16, Great Britain 13, Denmark 12, France 7 and Australia 7. After two more fleet races Sunday, the top three teams advance to the podium race.
Obituary: Hall of Fame center Mick Tingelhoff, the ultimate ironman who started 240 consecutive games at a bruising position for the Minnesota Vikings and played in four Super Bowls, has died. He was 81. The Vikings and the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced his death on Saturday. No cause was given. Tingelhoff had to wait 31 years for induction into the Hall of Fame, finally having his enshrinement in 2015 through election by a senior committee. Undrafted in 1962 out of Nebraska, Tingelhoff played 17 years for the Vikings, helping them win 10 division titles in an 11-season span from 1968-78. He
was a five-time All-Pro selection.
