New cases hit 299

Woman in her 90s succumbs to COVID-19

An Albany County woman in her 90s who tested positive for COVID-19 has died, bringing the county death toll to 509 since the beginning of the pandemic.

On Saturday, County Executive Dan McCoy also reported that 299 new positive cases were identified overnight. The total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began now stands at 58,988.

The seven-day average of new daily positive cases has decreased to 304.7.

McCoy also reported seven new hospitaliz­ations overnight. The total number of hospitaliz­ed residents has dropped to 93 people.

Out of those hospital patients, 15 of them are in the intensive care unit, which is unchanged.
