Suspect arrested in robbery attempt

COLONIE — A Columbia County man faces several charges after a robbery attempt and chase Thursday through Colonie, town police said.

The Hillsdale man, 27, reportedly made a knifepoint robbery attempt at Macy’s at Colonie Center after threatening an employee who confronted him for shoplifting. Police said they spotted him driving a stolen car on Wolf Road and chased him to an unused airport runway.

He was charged with attempted robbery, grand larceny and reckless driving among other charges. Police said they'd also arrested the suspect in July for crimes including robbery and weapon possession. At the time of this most recent arrest, the suspect had three active warrants from Rotterdam police, the Columbia County Sheriff ’s Office and Greenport police.

He was arraigned and jailed.
