Adirondack Vets House benefits from Realtors' donation
Leaders of the Southern Adirondack Realtors donated $4,400 to Adirondack Vets House Wednesday. The donation was the result of a silent auction at the SAR Holiday Gala in December.
Adirondack Vets House, on Pine Street in Glens Falls, serves homeless and at-risk veterans in Northern Saratoga, Warren, Hamilton, and Washington Counties.
“The money goes towards essentials such as food, rent, and clothing to ensure the residents can build a strong foundation in their journey toward employment and obtain permanent housing,” said Jeff Varmette, executive director of Vets House. “Our program has gone through many good changes over the past
several years and we appreciate the support of Southern Adirondack Realtors as we help local veterans secure jobs, find permanent housing, and stay connected with the resources they need.”
Realtors throughout the region donated items that were then up for bid at the gala. The donation is the beginning of a long-term partnership between SAR and Vets House.
“SAR and its members are committed to the community in which they live and work, and this is only one of the many ways Realtors engage,” said Catherine McDonough, this year's president of the Realtor association. “We anticipate an ongoing partnership so we can continue to support the hard work of Jeff and his staff. At the core of the Realtors' commitment to community is a goal that everyone has a place to call ‘home.’”
