Second-ranked Quinnipiac scored the game’s lone goal in the first period and held-off RPI, 1-0, on Saturday in a men’s ice hockey clash at Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena in Hamden, Conn.

The Bobcats, who are ranked second in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey polls, claimed their fifth-straight win and moved to 23-2-3 overall and 12-1-1 in ECAC play.

Ethan Leyh provided all the offense Quinnipiac would need 12 minutes, 10 seconds into the first period with his third goal of the campaign. After the goal, and even before the tally, it was the Bobcats defense and goaltender

Yaniv Perets who shutdown the Engineers offense.

Quinnipiac held RPI to just 16 shots on goal and Perets stopped them all to earn his 10th shutout of the season. Perets also climbed to 15-1-2 in front of the pipes this year.

Linden Marshall gave the Engineers a solid night in the opposite goal, stopping 29 of the 30 shots he faced. RPI dipped to 12-17-3 and 7-9-0 in the ECAC.

The Engineers return home to Troy on Friday to face-off against Cornell at 7 p.m.
