Stewart awards
On Jan. 30, the award committee of the Daniel Stewart Memorial Fund honored three early career photographers. Jahniah Kum, Nikolai Roschko and Laura Kordowski received cash awards. Kum took the top prize of $500. The event at the Albany Center for Economic Success, sponsored by the Underground Railroad Education Center, memorializes the early career photography of longtime area resident Daniel Stewart, who died in 2020 in a traffic accident in Oregon. The Underground Railroad Education Center is a nonprofit that researches and explores the story of the Underground Railroad and ties it to contemporary issues. Daniel Stewart was the son of the center’s cofounders and provided photography services to the organization.
