SUNY Schenectady
will continue to make it possible for Schenectady High School students to earn their associate degrees while still in high school through the renewal of a $2 million state Department of Education grant. The college first introduced the Schenectady Smart Transfer Early College High School Program in 2017 after earning a $1 million grant for the program. With renewal of the grant through June 30, 2026, the college will continue to welcome Smart Transfer students into SUNY Schenectady academic programs in business administration, criminal justice, culinary arts, liberal arts: humanities and social sciences, and science as they earn their high school diplomas and college degrees at the same time.
Fenimore Asset Management, an investment manager with offices in
Cobleskill and Albany, has presented a donation of $100,000 to the SUNY Cobleskill Foundation, creating an endowed fund to benefit students from Schoharie County who have demonstrated academic merit and face financial challenges in completing their degree. Up to five recipients will be selected annually to assist them with educational
expenses in their full-time pursuit of a bachelor’s or associate’s degree at SUNY Cobleskill. Students at all levels of study will be considered.
Berkshire Bank announced its foundation is accepting applications for its annual NeXt Gen Scholars Program. High school seniors, college students and adults who live in or attend a school in communities served by Berkshire Bank, including New York. Saratoga County officials announced the creation of the Saratoga County Non-Profit COVID Relief Grant Fund. The county Board of Supervisors
created the fund to assist community nonprofits hurt by the pandemic and that continue to experience challenges in an effort to help them continue beneficial programs and projects for county residents. Nonprofit organizations that directly serve Saratoga County residents are eligible to apply for a grant. Grant awards will range from $500 to a maximum of $50,000.
