Biden the moderate coming to fruition

- David Pace Delmar

The liberals in Congress forced their agenda on the country by insisting we accept trillions in spending. All or nothing, the push for both spending plans, Build Back Better and physical infrastructure, had to be passed together.

When President Joe Biden knew he could not get anything with such a plan, the packages were separated. We then had some liberals vote against the first infrastructure package only because they stubbornly maintained the all-or-nothing stance.

This all-or-nothing stance, initially embraced by Biden, has dissolved. More recently, Biden has stated that he will break up Build Back Better into smaller pieces. By doing so, the reasonable aspects of the plan have a chance to be legislated successfully and the pie-in-the-sky can be jettisoned.

The promise that Biden would be more moderate may be coming to fruition as he may have had no choice at the start of his presidency but to humor the unrealistic desires of his most liberal constituents.
