The Rochester Knighthawks held off the Albany FireWolves and won 15-13 on Saturday in a National Lacrosse League matchup at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.

The Knighthawks jumped in front 6-2 at the end of the first quarter but Albany rallied to cut the advantage to just a goal, 7-6, at the halftime break.

Rochester maintained control, however, in the second-half and held the lead until the final buzzer to pick up the victory.

Albany’s Andrew Kew scored 3 minutes, 22 seconds into the fourth to make it 10-9 in favor of the Knighthawks but Thomas Hoggarth answered for Rochester with the game’s next two goals to bump the lead back to 12-9. The teams traded goals the rest of the way with Kew sending home the final tally of the night at 14:49 to make the final score 15-13.

Joe Resetarits had four goals and four assists and Ryan Benesch scored three goals and added five assists to lead the FireWolves, who fell to 4-4 on the season. Kew finished with two goals and three assists for Albany.

Shawn Evans had a goal and eight assists to lead Rochester, which snapped a four-game losing skid and climbed to 3-5 with the victory.

Next up for the FireWolves is a trip to Buffalo Friday.
