Adelphi sweeps St. Rose
Four players scored in double figures as Adelphi used a balanced attack to beat Saint Rose 76-60 in a men’s basketball game Saturday in Albany.
Adonis Williams scored 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Panthers (17-6, 11-4 Northeast-10 Conference). Adelphi has won seven straight.
Shane O’Dell scored 26 points for the Golden Knights (10-11, 7-9).
Adelphi built a 15-4 lead through the first seven minutes and took a 36-23 lead into halftime. Ronnie Silva scored 10 points in the first half. They led by double digits the rest of the way in handing the Golden Knights their fourth straight loss.
In the women’s game, Adelphi pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 62-56 win over Saint Rose.
Saint Rose has lost nine straight and is 1-9 at home this season.
Emily Miccile scored a career-high 30 points and had 14 rebounds for Adelphi (11-11, 9-8). The game was tied three times in the fourth quarter, but Miccile’s jumper with 1:55 left gave Adelphi a 58-56 lead. She was 4-for-4 from the foul line down the stretch to seal the win.
Becca Townes scored 13 points and Shamim Wambere added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Golden Knights (3-15, 3-12).
