Stags get revenge against Saints
Only team to beat Fairfield this year, Siena loses rematch
Lou Lopez-Senechal scored 21 points as Fairfield avenged its only league loss earlier in the season by topping Siena 64-58 Saturday in Fairfield, Conn.
Margo Peterson was 5-for-9 from the field and finished with a team-high 17 points for Siena (6-16, 6-8).
Siena handed the Stags (17-6, 14-1) their only league loss of the season Jan. 22. That might have been the high water mark for the Saints who lost 10 straight to open the season and are currently on a four game losing streak.
Early on, a repeat of that upset seemed possible as Deanna Winston sank a 3-pointer to give Siena an 11-6 lead, their largest of the game. But Fairfield responded with a 9-2 run, capped by a Sam Lewis 3-pointer.
Lopez-Senechal was fouled draining a jumper with 23 seconds left in the half and made the free throw to give Fairfield a 33-28 lead at halftime. She beat the buzzer at the end of the third quarter to give Fairfield a 50-39 lead.
The Stags led by double digits most of the fourth quarter in cruising to their seventh straight win. Their last loss came against Siena.
