Hosmer, Richard B. "Dick"
MELROSE — Richard B. "Dick" Hosmer passed away on February 12, 2022, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, at the age of 84.
Dick was born in Worcester, Mass. to C. Clifton and Marion Hosmer. He was a quiet, thoughtful man, who was passionate about his hobbies. Dick was a graduate of South High of Worcester, Mass. where he played the clarinet in the high school band.
Richard was a licensed civil engineer and certified flight instructor - instrument. Dick graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and made a career as a civil engineer, retiring from the state of New York as a senior airport development specialist.
In retirement, Dick taught machine processing at H.V.C.C. for a number of years. His hobbies included flying, and anything trains, he was a founding member of the Adirondack Live Steamers.
He was predeceased by his brother, David Hosmer; sister, Dorothy Resnick; an infant son; and his wife of 53 years, Eunice Hosmer. Richard is survived by his wife, Eleanor; sons, Robert (Sandy) of Melrose, and Steven (Marlene) of St. Charles, Mo.; grandchildren, Laura Hosmer of Blue Mounds, Wis., Richard W. Hosmer (Schanel) of St. Charles, Mo., Rosena Hosmer (Josh Fish) of Melrose, and Charles Hosmer of Lakeland, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Audree and Leo Hosmer of St. Charles, Mo.
For Richard’s love of teaching and education, he made an anatomical gift to Albany Medical College.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.
