— Mary A. Hrib, who just celebrated her 100th birthday in January, died peacefully in the comfort of her home on February 22, 2022, after a brief illness.

Born in Troy on January 1, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Susan Skutnisky and wife of the late George Hrib. Mary worked as a seamstress for many years at Marshall Ray Co. in Lansingbur­gh and later worked as a machine operator for Tagson’s Paper Co. in Mechanicvi­lle for 25 years, retiring in the late 1980s.

She was a former member of the Henry F. Lefko American Legion, Post 1644 Ladies Auxiliary and also a longtime member of the Mechanicvi­lle/Stillwater Senior Citizens Center. She loved camping with her family, especially at the Northhampt­on Beach Campground on Sacandaga Lake. She was an avid sewer and crocheter who also enjoyed cooking and baking. She enjoyed caring for her grandchild­ren and later spending time with her great-grandchild­ren.

Mary was predecease­d by her husband, George Hrib; sisters, Ann Skutnisky, Susan Bolton and Helen Goverski; and brother, John Skutnisky. Survivors include her daughters, Carol (William) Johnson of Mechanicvi­lle and Diane (Robert) Carson of Stillwater; grandchild­ren, Geoffrey Johnson, Robert (Amy) Carson Jr., and Lance (Lisa) Carson; great-grandchild­ren, Taylor, Bobby, Meghan, Jakob, Caroline, Avery and

Jakob, Caroline, Avery and Alexa, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mary’s family extends their heartfelt appreciati­on and gratitude to Susan and Anthony Staliorait­is, and friend Debbie Marshall, for the care, concern and friendship given to Mary through the years.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 28, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St, Mechanicvi­lle. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. in All Saints on The Hudson Catholic Church (St. Paul’s), 121 N. Main St., Mechanicvi­lle with burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Stillwater.
