Guilderland Teens Help Spread The Joy Of A Perfect Smile

- By Adirondack Orthodontics

Sam and Ben Sosnovsky from Guilderland, NY, were concerned about their teeth and proper dental care from a young age. The twins, at age 12, reached out to a local orthodontist to start the process of getting their very best smile. They found Sergey Berenshteyn – affectionately known as “Dr. B.” - and Adirondack Orthodontics . What happened after their initial meeting and subsequent care went far beyond their own happiness and personal dental transformation. Through hard work and a great deal of empathy, Sam and Ben have forged a path to help those in their local community and have touched the lives of many.

Compassionate Care Meets Customized Treatment

Adirondack Orthodontics, voted the Capital Region’s best orthodontist, is based in Clifton Park, New York, and has offices in Albany, East Greenbush, Glens Falls, and Latham. Adirondack Orthodontics’ team of specialists is led by ABO-Certified Orthodontist and Dentofacial Orthopedic expert Dr. Sergey Berenshteyn. His patient-centric approach to providing his patients with the finest dental care yields more than just straightened teeth; it gives people of all ages confidence and the ability to grow self-esteem.

“We heard about his work, and after we met with Dr. B., we were so impressed that we decided that we were going to get our braces with them,” said Sam Sosnovsky. “We liked his overall approach to straightening teeth and how he made the entire process easy with appointments that our family could make without disrupting our schoolwork and our parents’ jobs. In addition, their finance options really make it affordable to anyone.”

Far-Reaching, Long-Lasting Positive Impacts

Both Sam and Ben felt getting their braces positively impacted their lives, especially in face-to-face interactions with friends and family. They both agree that having their dental work completed prior to entering high school encouraged them to be more active in clubs and activities, something they shied away from before their braces.

“It made us want to smile more, build new relationships, and also realize that we were fortunate to have parents that could afford the orthodontics treatment we received,” said Sam. “When we saw how much our braces changed our lives, we knew that we had to do something to help others who might not have the ability to pay for the treatment we went through.”

Sam and Ben then committed to passing their happiness along. They began saving the money they earned working two jobs apiece, over summers and throughout the school year. After many months of hard work, the brothers saved a treasure chest of over $4,000. Together, they decided that they wanted to donate the savings to underprivileged area residents needing dental care but unable to afford it. Encouraged by their parents, especially their mother, Sam and Ben reached out to. Dr.B. Dr. B was very impressed that the two young men were so dedicated to raising money that he decided that he would match their earnings and help distribute it to deserving residents in the Capital Region and beyond. “When Ben and Sam came to me, I was stunned by their efforts,” said Dr. B. “It’s outstanding to find two young adults willing to work so hard to earn money and then turn around and give it away based on the changes in their lives my staff helped give them. I was immediately on board to match their contribution.”

Sam and Ben hope that their story, their enthusiasm and their donation encourage others to become more involved with their community. The impact of a positive experience can be far-reaching.

“I now have a perfect smile that I never thought I would have,” added Sam. “Ben and I both want someone else to experience what comes with the confidence of having their best smile, too.”
