50 YEARS AGO Troy city manager fired
Troy was looking for a new city manager as fired city manager Ralph De Santis looked for a new city. The Troy City Council was placing ads in two national magazines in search of a new city manager as De Santis was likely sending out resumes. De Santis, who had engaged in a battle with the council over appointive powers, had applied for three manager jobs last week, days before the council ousted him. De Santis said he had received on March 5 a copy of the complaints the council had filed against him. It stated a total lack of communication and coordination between the manager and the council in the running of the city. He said it charged that he was the “godfather” of the Lansingburgh fire station but he said the council had made decisions on it before he got there two years ago.
