TROY — Theresa Mary Cerqua Marro, age 94, passed peacefully into eternal life at home on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo "Jim" and Vincenza "Tina" Cerqua. Theresa was educated in the Waterford school system. She started her career at Cluett & Peabody where she met the love of her life, her husband, the late Sebastian "Sonny" Marro. Sadly, he passed away at the age of 47 in 1975. Theresa then devoted her entire life to raising her eight children on her own. She sacrificed much, but would never call it a sacrifice.

Much like her siblings, Theresa had a great sense of humor. Practical jokes caught her kids off guard constantly. They will especially miss her April Fools’ calls and reminders to change the clocks.

Over the years, Theresa was very involved with her church, St. Mary’s in Troy, the Troy CYO, St. Mary’s School PTA, visiting shutins and helping anyone who needed anything. She had dedication and compassion for others that was beyond compare. Truly our hero and angel on earth. The happiest part of her journey was raising her eight children and watching her family grow through grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Theresa is survived by her sister and best friend, Mary Ann Castle and her husband, Dick Castle; her eight children, Patti (Greg) Owens, Francie Horton (Rich Green), Debbie Berlino, Ter
