Horton, Alfred P.
COHOES — Alfred P. "Hot Dog" Horton, 85 of Waterside Way, a longtime resident of Route 351 in Poestenkill, died on Thursday, March 10, 2022, under Hospice care at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness. Born in Sand Lake, Al was the son of the late Charles H. and Bertha Fowler Horton Sr. and the devoted husband of the late Arlene Miller Horton. Al was raised in Sand Lake before moving to Troy for a time and then to Poestenkill in 1967. Prior to his illness, he had spent winters in Florida and had sold his home in Poestenkill before moving to Cohoes. Al retired from the Garden Way Mfg. Co. in Troy where he had been a machinist. He was a life member of the Poestenkill Fire Company and the "Old Farts" Car Club. Al enjoyed showing his 1964 Ford Galaxy at many area car shows. Survivors include his beloved daughters, Kim (Scott) Franklin of Troy and RaeAnn (Tom) Vooris of Poestenkill; his loving companion of three years, Marcia Watson of Cohoes; a brother, Charles H. Horton Jr. of Cohoes; his grandchildren, Samantha (Nick) Schuman, Tabitha Vooris and Kyle (Kaela) Franklin; along with his great-grandchildren, Raelyn and Emmett Thompson and Kiernan Franklin. Al was the great-grandfather of the late Jameson J. Schuman; and brother of the late Bernard and Bernice Horton. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 4 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 14, at the PerryKomdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park followed by a service at 6:30 p.m. Spring interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Poestenkill.
